2014 Audi A8 is a four-door, full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automobile manufacturer Audi since 1994. Succeeding the Audi V8, and is now in its third generation, the 2014 Audi A8 has been offered with front drive or all-wheel-permanent, short and long wheelbase variants. The first two generations employed the Volkswagen Group D platform with the current generation platforms MLB derivation.

Produced exclusively for the Audi plant in Neckarsulm, not as a model donor A8, S8 is only available as a short wheelbase and comes standard with Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive system.

The 2014 Audi A8 made its debut in Europe in 1994, with factory production starting in June 1994, although it was not until the 1997 model became available in North America. Unlike its predecessor, the Audi V8 model, which is built on an existing steel platform, the 2014 Audi A8 debuted on the then-new D2 Platform Volkswagen Group, the aluminum monocoque fully marketed as the “Audi Space Frame” which helps reduce weight and preserve structural rigidity.

For 1997, the new A8 is available with front-wheel drive or Torsen-based quattro permanent four-wheel drive. FWD models are powered by a 2.8-liter V6 engine, generating 142 kilowatts (193 hp, 190 hp) and 3.7-liter V8 engine 171.5 kilowatts (233 hp, 230 hp), while the quattro received a 4.2 liter V8 that produces 220 kilowatts (299 hp, 295 hp).
